Live events are important for both your personal and professional growth. In today’s podcast, I share what I believe are the most important things to remember about live events.
Highlights
Make the investment in yourself. Budget to go to one or two seminars or conferences annually.
Although going to live events can lead to a new client or two, let it come from genuine interaction, not a “push them in the corner and buy from me” scenario. No one likes that guy at the event.
Go there to learn and participate. If there’s after-hours mingling, go. If there’s lunch break-out sessions, go. Immerse yourself.
Live events are a great place to gain inspiration, but turn inspiration into action. Take at least a day afterward to go through your notes and turn your notes into action plans.
Follow-up with the people you had deeper conversations with. Drop them a note. Just be yourself and continue on that relationship online.
