In keeping with this month’s series about networking, today’s episode is about my networking intentions when I attended Podcast Movement 2021 in Nashville, TN at the beginning of August.
It was my first live conference since 2019. I had become accustomed to not going to these types of events. Like most everyone on the planet, I didn’t go to any business live events in the last 18 months or more. Of course, because we were all on lock-down!
As an introvert, I prefer small groups and love my alone time. But I was excited to finally attend a LIVE event.
I know me and I needed to have some intention of meeting new people at the conference, or I’d hide out in the shadows and just listen.
Here were my intentions:
- Meet, in person, past podcast guests and other online friends who were also attending
- Go to break-away sessions, sit next to someone I didn’t know, and strike up a conversation
- Meet a presenter or two and show my gratitude of what I learned from them
- Follow-up with my new acquaintances after the event to make a deeper connection
This was the first time to attend Podcast Movement and I didn’t know what to expect. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience. There were a couple of break-out sessions that I attended that, to me, wasn’t at all what the title alluded to. But, overall, the event was a great experience.
