Making Fun a Habit: Igniting Creativity in Your Work and Life

Why do we sometimes fail to notice the fun that surrounds us? I understand that there are serious matters occurring in our world, but I firmly believe that if we don’t take breaks from the weight and stress that these serious matters bring into our lives, we won’t be able to find real solutions to problems presented to us.

Without fun, we can get stuck in our daily routine. Without fun, we can find ourselves lacking inspiration and creativity in our work.

There is power of creativity when it comes to fun and playfulness. When I was flipping through my Instagram feed a few weeks back, I stopped scrolling when I saw a post of Mike Brennan’s book Make Fun a Habit: The Creative PLAYbook for Making Life and Work Fun Again. Mike isn’t your typical Creative Consultant and Communicator; he’s a passionate advocate for reigniting the lost art of fun and creativity.

Mike’s expertise goes beyond the pages of his book. He’s helped renowned clients like Heineken and Chase Bank infuse creativity, innovation, and fun into their work. His art graces prestigious spaces like the Ronald McDonald House and the I.D.E.A. Museum in Mesa, Arizona.

What sets Mike apart is his commitment to helping individuals and organizations harness the transformative power of creativity. With a unique Daily Creative Habit process honed over a decade, he empowers people to seamlessly integrate innovation into their routines, making life and work more vibrant and fulfilling. Through his words, art, actions, and unwavering dedication to the cause, Mike inspires us all to make fun not just a habit but a way of life.

Mike emphasizes the need for finding joy and playfulness in our daily routines, even amidst busy schedules and work obligations. He believes fun can lead to personal growth and professional success.

Creativity is not limited to specific activities or time constraints. It’s about embracing a mindset of exploration and curiosity. Whether you’re solving problems at work or pursuing personal hobbies, finding joy and playfulness can lead to new ideas and fresh perspectives.

In the book, Mike shares the benefits of engaging in activities outside of our professional realm. Exploring new hobbies or learning new skills can help us tap into different parts of our brain and foster personal growth. By giving ourselves permission to play and experiment without fear of judgment, we open doors to new discoveries and insights.

We should be creating a space for personal expression and experimentation. While many of us dedicate our creative energy to serving others, it’s equally important to have a place where we can explore our own ideas. By nurturing our own creative pursuits, we can bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to our professional work.

Remember, by making time for personal exploration, playfulness, and experimentation, we can unlock new possibilities and reach greater heights of success and satisfaction.
